August 8 (Sat), 2020

The tile museum, the 2nd floor permanent exhibition room has been renovated on a large scale for the first time since it was renovated in 2007.

■Tiles from about 35 countries and regions from different ages dating back to the ancient times to the more recent 19th century are displayed in the following area-by-area format: "The Orient" "Islam" "Spain" "The Netherlands" "The United Kingdom" "China" and "Japan". Photographs showing how the tiles were used and explanations in Japanese and English were enhanced.

■Set up a collective exhibition of tiles produced in countries such as North America, Mexico, Germany, France, Italy, Hungary and Portugal, Taiwan, India, which is few in our collection.

■In a small room near the center of the 2nd floor exhibition room, we newly set up exhibitions to introduce "Cultural exchange and the development of decorative techniques in tiles of the world".

■Installed QR codes to access exhibition descriptions
You can read the explanation of the exhibition in Japanese, English and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional Chinese) by accessing the special page on your smartphone from the QR code installed in each corner.
